Glow Girl Artist Spotlight: Lunaversoul

Have you ever found something so unique and pretty you wanted to keep it allllllllllllll to yourself? This is how I feel about this extraordinary artist and jewelry maker Lunaversoul. To be quite honest, I really can't recall how I found her and thebeautiful, drop dead gorgeous jewelry she makes. All I know is I found it and I'mHOOKED. Now it wouldn't have been very fair to keep this treasure all to myself. CJ, the artist, has a vast collection of some of the most exquisite one of a kind pieces. I'm so thrilled to be the owner of the Azucar Earrings and Jaguar Ring! Check out the pics!

The earrings are light weight and just about shoulder length. I love the contrast of the bright hot pink feathers against the green peacock pattern. It's so three dimensional! The ring has a nice weight to it but not so heavy it's cumbersome. The hammered ring opening is adjustable! You can wear it on virtually any finger! (I think it looks best as a middle or index finger ring) The ring made up of two Agate stones with a Jaguar elegantly placed at the top. This ring is definitely a conversation piece. The ring is quite delicate, so you don't want to be caught in a scuffle or in an environment where it could be battered and bruised.

The Lunaversoul collection is absolutely flawless, timeless and captivating. Looking at the catalog is like virtually walking through an exhibit. The time and effort shows with the handmade pieces. I can't get enough of perusing through the pictures and soaking in the raw natural talent and beauty of both the artist and the jewelry. Somehow CJ has the ability to create the perfect balance without going overboard or not pushing the envelope enough. Everything is everyday wear and can easily and effortlessly transition to evening and prestigious event wear. The use of bright and vibrant colors and materials like embossed leather and hammered brass is edgy yet the design is delicate and resplendent. With a price range of $25-$75+ you're destined to find something affordable, quite complimenting and utterly amazing to add to your jewelry collection. With the budding artist becoming quite the eye-catching phenom (and being eyed by retailers) snap up something lovely for yourself before she hits it big time so you can brag to everyone you know you have a one of a kind while everyone else is late and running behind! I'm excited to see more from her in 2010! If you like to learn more about Lunaversoul please visit www.lunaversoul.com. Saturday Night Fever

So its Saturday night & I am stuck at home bored & with a cold on top of that...But that has not stopped my creative energy from flowing, so I made a couple more bracelets.
The first is the Glamazon Cuff~ a hammered silver cuff bracelet with a huge royal purple magnesite stone I LOVE this cuff so much that I made 2 one for myself of course :p & the other is up for sale & listed in the shop.

The second cuff is still a work in progress. In fact you can still see the dust from when I was working on it earlier. This "corsage" cuff is appropriately named Steel Magnolia & it is one of a kind & definitely unique.
It is a silver metal flower with hand painted brass colored trimming & the center of the flower is made of brass. Not sure what my plans are after I complete it,but I am having a lot of fun making it.

Catch the Seattle Premiere of Handmade Nation

Urban Craft Uprising is proud to be a sponsor for the Seattle screening of Faythe Levine's documentary, Handmade Nation on October 10th and 11th at the Northwest Film Forum. In addition to an awesome film, look for giveaways and other exciting activities on opening night.

First-time filmmaker Faythe Levine takes crafting seriously. So do the 80-some people she interviews in her well-crafted (pun intended) documentary about the growing art community that coheres around a belief in DIY skill and resourceful creativity. Many members of the indie crafting community spent their childhoods at flea markets, yard sales and thrift stores. Levine journeyed 19,000 miles around the country to discover what these crafters are up to today: selling mittens as band merchandise, knitting sweaters around street signs and networking with each other online, in stores and at craft fairs. This is a compelling look at the exuberant world of contemporary crafting.

"Their energy is infectious, which is why I call D.I.Y. the punk rock of the craft world." --Penelope Green, NY Times

Buy tickets now at http://www.nwfilmforum.org/live/page/calendar/1033.

This event will be in conjunction with the annual Plush You! show. This year Plush You! will be held at Schmancy, Nancy and Fancy (one of our sponsors), Oct. 9th and then at Bluebottle Art Gallery and The Anne Bonny on Oct. 10th. Don't miss any of these events!

October 11th you can also join Faythe for happy hour at Vermillion after her second screening at the Northwest Film Forum from 6-7pm. Sponsored by Grassroots Business Association.
